Spicy City, Seattle’s most acclaimed Szechuan restaurant

Sichuan cuisine or Szechwan cuisine (川菜) is a style of Chinese cuisine originating from Sichuan province in southwestern China. It has bold flavor, particularly the pungency (辛辣) and spiciness resulting from liberal use of garlic and chili peppers, as well as the unique flavor of the Sichuan pepper. Peanuts sesame paste, and ginger are also prominent ingredients in Szechuan cooking.

Design process introduction

I researched the branding ideology thoroughly, including the cuisine's history, the restaurant's location, and the customers' demographic. According to my research, I established a branding guideline that alines with both English and Chinese language, making sure the design is appealing to both the Chinese and non-Chinese communities.

Beyond the cultural challenges, I delivered logos, stationaries, posters, and menus. I also contributed to the restaurant’s interior design and website user experience design.

LOGO Design

I created my own font using the skill of Chinese calligraphy to develop the logo, then built the 3D printing file through Rhinoceros.
